課程概述 |
"Historical Musicology Practicum: The Scores and the Sounds of Music"
The course is designed for students who have already acquired basic knowledge
in musicology, and who would like to improve their practical musicological
skills so as to be able to read, handle, and analysis historical notations and
recordings. |
課程目標 |
This course will be practical orientated:
- how to read historical notation
- how to work with computer notation program
- how to do computer-assisted analysis of recordings
- how to interprete musical performances
- how to analyze and present statistic results
- how to handle and care for audio-visual material and equipment
At the end, you should be able to:
- produce clean and effective musical examples, both notated and recorded, for
your papers and presentations
- produce empirical analysis of musical performances instead of just
subjective description
- control the rhetoric and avoid undesirable bias in language and graphical
representation. |
課程要求 |
Students of the class are expected to do all the assignments given after every
class. There will be practical projects for the mid-term and the final. As the
course materials will be uploaded to the course home page, it is expected that
all students have proper computing equipments and essential operating skills
to get the class work going. The class are also expected to keep close
attention to the announcements on the bulletinboard to be well informed of
what-to-dos and how-to-dos for the course. |
